Getting to Morro Bay

Morro Bay sits on Highway 1 about thirteen miles north-west of San Luis Obispo, midway between San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Driving is how most people arrive. From the north, Highway 101 to San Luis Obispo then Highway 1 north-west to the coast; from the south the same route in reverse. The scenic option is Highway 1 the whole way — spectacular through Big Sur, though closures happen and should be checked before committing to it.
San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport (SBP) is the closest airport, roughly fifteen miles away, with regional connections. Santa Barbara, San Jose and the Los Angeles-area airports are the larger alternatives, each a longer drive.
Once you are here you will not need the car much. The Embarcadero is walkable end to end, and Bayside Landing sits directly on it — the harborwalk, the observation deck and the restaurants are all on foot from the door.
